    The Centre for Appropriate Rural Technology promotes appropriate technologies in India and the Third World. They conduct research, develop mechanisms and establish extension centres. Information on their technologies is available on their website.

    The Centre for Science and Environment is one of India's leading environmental NGOs with a deep interest in sustainable natural resource management. CSE's strategy of "knowledge based activism" has won it wide respect and admiration for the quality of its campaigns, research and publications. Lots of information and publications are available on this website. Check out the Gobar Times, an online publication for children. Also check out g:net, the Gobar Times environmental education network. This page has information for educators on publications, workshops, and a distance learning course on environmental education will soon be available.

    Healthlink Worldwide works to improve the health of poor and vulnerable communities by strengthening the provision, use and impact of information. They maintain an online database of 16,000 records of materials focusing on the management and practice of primary health care in developing countries. Also available online are downloadable health-related newsletters on health-related topics from several different organizations. They produce several of their own publications, which are free to the developing world.

This site contains numerous news briefs and releases on sustainable development. Additional information can be ordered from their on-line bookstore.

    World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is a global organization that is doing all it can to halt the accelerating destruction of our natural world. This site has links to all the WWF sites around the world.     Environmental Education on the Internet is a project of the North American Association for Environmental Education. It includes extensive directories of environmental education websites, including activities categorized by topics, sources of environmental information, and K-12 student environmental education sites.

    Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) involves students from over 80 countries in collecting local environmental data.

    Global Response (GR) has created a worldwide network of people and organizations that refer environmental crises to them. In collaboration with the local people who are working on the problem, GR issues an "Action" to its members. The "Action" gives background information about the environmental threat and the efforts of local organizations to resolve it. The "Action" asks GR members to use this information to write personal letters to specific officials who have the power to make positive changes. It has a special Young Environmentalists Action section.
